Funny Stuff (Chapter 5) Have you ever wondered why physicians are held in much higher esteem than statisticians. That's easy to explain. A physician can make a complex analysis of an illness whereas a statistician can make you ill with a complex analysis. A mailed survey of college students was once conducted to find out how interested (or apathetic) the students were when it came to participating in research studies. A statistical analysis of the data showed that 92 percent were highly interested. (The response rate was 10 percent.)
